Visualizing the Qur’an
The Qur’an is filled with imageries. Let’s explore their relevance while using the latest AI image generation
In this workshop, you will:
- make the Qur’an relevant through group discussions and personal reflections.
- learn to visualize these reflections and transcribe them into prompts.
- use the latest technology to generate visual interpretations of these verses to build a Qur’anic storyboard.
At the end of this highly interactive workshop, you will have learn techniques to better relate to the Qur’an and retain its meanings. You will have developed confidence in approaching the Texts as well as confidence in effectively using new technologies.

Praying with the birds
Ever wondered why the birds sing at the time of fajr? Help us link religious practices to nature.
In this workshop, you will:
- build a portable an autonomous monitoring station including temperature sensor, light sensor, humidity sensor, and microphone.
- learn to transfer recorded data for online analysis.
- analyze sound using AI-chirp recognition software and correlate results with environmental conditions and astronomic prayer timetable.
At the end of this hands-on workshop, you will have build a holistic monitoring station, which will help you reconnect with your natural environment. The analysis will help you to correlate the chirping of your local birds with your local prayer time and environmental conditions. You will gain access to an international community with whom to explore the extend of such correlations: between religious practices and nature.

Looking for miracles
Do you wish for superpowers, wish to witness a supernatural event, or simply try to see God through the materiality of this life? Come along and discover what miracles look like in the modern age.
In this workshop, you will:
- engage in a guided discussion to clarify the meaning of miracles.
- explore the purpose and consequences of witnessing miracles.
- practice to see miracles within and around you.
At the end of this through provoking workshop, you will have acquired a renewed sense of what miracles are, developed practical ways to see them even in mundane matters, and learned how to benefit from them.
Knowing Allah series
The Burhan Institute of Research invites you to join our Knowing Allah series. In these sessions, we’ll focus on specific verses that explicitly links one of Allah’s name with elements of the natural world. We’ll explore collectively how to see Allah’s attribute through that element, drawing from our current scientific knowledge of it.
The goal is to learn how to see Allah through the materiality of this world.

Using science to ground faith
Wondering how science can support faith? Join us and explore the deep relation that exist between the two.
In this lecture, you will:
- learn about the scientific endeavor: its ambition, power and limitations.
- compare the establishment of a scientific theory to that of faith.
- appreciate the similarities between belief in a scientific theory and belief in Islam.
At the end of this lecture, you will have learned about the intrinsic relation that exist between science and faith; in the way they operate as well as in the way they are established.

Redefining scientific miracles of the Qur’an
The miraculous claim of no contradictions between a 1400 years old revelation and modern science is a challenge to be undertaken. Come and learn how to surmount it.
In this lecture, you will:
- learn how to approach the Qur’an from a scientifically rigorous perspective.
- redefine what miracles ought to be, and how to approach them.
- explore practical ways to see “low-level” miracles in our every-day life.
At the end of this lecture, you will have reviewed the various scientific arguments supporting and discrediting Islam. You will have used the latter to redefine what miracles are and how to assert them. You will then be left with a tool-kit to search for miracles your own life.

Islamic environmental sustainability
Sustainability is today central to many policies. But its lack of definition and implementation makes it prone to instrumentalisation. Learn how to enact that ideal following Islamic ethics.
In this lecture, you will:
- learn about the dominant western definition of sustainability and its pitfalls.
- redefine sustainability, taking the Qur’an as starting point.
- develop ways to implement such Qur’anic sustainability in your every-day life.
At the end of this lecture, you will have acquired a deeper understanding of what environmental sustainability is, both, from a materialistic and religious point of view. And more importantly, you will have learned ways to pursue sustainability as a religious endeavour.
